Em 2001, ao fim de vários anos, os New Order lançaram um novo álbum de originais – “Get Ready”. “Crystal” foi escolhido como single de apresentação. O videoclip original foi realizado por Johan Renck, mas, nos EUA, saiu um outro filme assinado por Gina Birch, que trabalhara recentemente com os Libertines. O resultado é este “Crystal Remix”, realizado e montado num estúdio caseiro.

It had been several years since New Order made an album. In 2001 they came out with Get Ready. Crystal was the first single and the record company planned to make a video. The original video clip was directed by Johan Renck, but in the USA another film came out, signed by Gina Birch, who had been making videos for the Libertines. “Crystal Remix” is the video and it is in the homemade style that Gina has developed.

Gina Birch é um dos membros fundadores da banda The Raincoats. Gina formou, mais tarde outra banda, The Hangovers, com que lançou, em 1998, o álbum “Slow Dirty Tears”.

“Ceremony” é um tema escrito pelos Joy Division. Posteriormente, os New Order regravaram-no como single de estreia. Este videoclip de 2005 tem a assinatura do cineasta chinês Yu Likwai, que assegura também a direcção de fotografia nos filmes do cineasta homenageado no IndieLisboa 2005, Jia Zhangke. Likwai não conhecia bem a discografia dos New Order, mas era um fã devoto dos Division (um dos seus filmes intitula-se “Love Will Tear Us Apart”).

“Ceremony” was written by Joy Division and recorded by New Order as their first single. This 2005 video clip was directed by chinese filmmaker Yu Likwai, who is also Jia Zhangke’s director of photography. Likwai did not listen much to New Order but loved Joy Division (one of his features is “Love Will Tear Us Apart”).

Nasceu em 1966, em Hong Kong. Completou o curso no Instituto Superior de Artes do Espectáculo, na Bélgica. Trabalha activamente na China e em Hong Kong. Trabalhou como director de fotografia nas 4 longas-metragens de Jia Zhangke. É realizador em nome próprio, e as suas duas longas-metragens, “All Tomorrow’s Parties” e “Love Will Tear Us Apart” foram apresentadas no festival de Cannes.

Born in 1966 in Hong Kong, Yu is a graduate of Belgium's INSAS (Institut National Superieur des Arts de Spectacle). He is actively involved in productions both in Hong Kong and mainland China. He is cinematographer on all four of Jia Zhangke's features. Yu Likwai is also an acclaimed director in his own right. Both his first feature, “Love Will Tear Us Apart” (1999), and “All Tomorrow's Parties” (2003), were presented at the Cannes Film Festival.

“Temptation” é um dos temas do álbum Substance, dos New Order, gravado em 1987. O videoclip, realizado a quatro mãos pelo produtor Michael Shamberg e Victoria Bergsman, da banda sueca The Concretes. O vídeo foi rebaptizado de “The Temptation of Victoria” e é também uma homenagem ao realizador Michael Powell.

“Temptation” was originally recorded for the 1987 New Order album Substance. This new video clip was directed by Michael Shamberg and Swedish band The Concretes’ lead singer, Victoria Bergsman. The video was re-titled “The Temptation of Victoria” and is dedicated to filmmaker Michael Powell.
