É-o assim desde “Songs of Leonard Cohen” e, para muitos, continua a sê-lo com o seu mais recente “Dear Heather”. Lian Lunson deverá contar-se também entre essa legião de fãs, pelo menos a julgar pelo seu LEONARD COHEN: I’M YOUR MAN, um documentário que entrelaça dois fios narrativos: um concerto tributo realizado em Sydney, na Austrália, e com interpretações incendiárias de alguns dos seus mais ilustres discípulos (Nick Cave, Rufus Wainwright, Martha Wainwright, Antony, Beth Orton e Jarvis Cocker, entre outros) e algumas entrevistas reveladoras com Cohen a reflectir sobre o seu passado e processo criativo.

Songwriter. Poet. Counter-culture icon. Consummate ladies’ man. Since bursting onto the scene in 1967, Leonard Cohen has inspired generations with his unique personality and haunting music, becoming one of the most original and enduring artists to emerge from the 1960s. In January, 2005, Lunson traveled to Sydney to film the historic “Came So Far For Beauty” show, a tribute to Leonard Cohen at the Sydney Opera House organized by famed music producer Hal Willner. LEONARD COHEN I’M YOUR MAN includes behind-the-scenes interviews and live performances from this event by Nick Cave, Rufus Wainwright, Kate & Anna McGarrigle, Martha Wainwright, Beth Orton, Linda Thompson, Teddy Thompson, Jarvis Cocker, The Handsome Family, Julie Christensen and Perla Batalla, as well as a special performance of “Tower of Song” by Cohen and U2. And in a series of candid interviews, Cohen himself reveals his trademark wry humor and soulful intensity, using his own artwork, poetry and personal collection of photographs to reflect upon his colorful past and his creative process.

Estudou na escola de teatro em Sydney, na Austrália. Trabalhou durante vários anos como actriz antes de se mudar para Los Angeles, onde iniciou uma carreira na produção. Nos anos 90, trabalhou em publicidade e produziu videoclips para artistas como Neil Young, INXS, Pearl Jam, Public Enemy e Dwight Yoakam. Em 1997, fundou a sua própria produrora, a Horse Pictures, e começou a dirigir os seus próprios projectos. Realiza um videoclip e uma curta documental sobre Willie Nelson, prólogo do documentário para o canal de televisão público (PBS) “Willie Nelson Down Home”.

Attended drama school in Sydney, Australia and worked for several years as an actress before moving to Los Angeles to pursue film production. In the 1990s, Lunson produced commercials and music videos for such artists as Neil Young, INXS, Pearl Jam, Public Enemy and Dwight Yoakam. In 1997, she formed her own company, Horse Pictures, and began directing her own projects. Her first film was a music video and short documentary for Willie Nelson, which paved the way for the feature PBS documentary, “Willie Nelson Down Home.”
